Google AdWords - Hot Stuff
The most popular paid advertising tool today. AdWords allows
you to customize your advertising according to your daily budget
and reach your target audience effectively.
These are sample results from AdWords on Google.com
for the search term "silk ties" (I love those!), where
Google separates AdWords results from it's free search results:
These are sample results from AdWords on Alexa,
Google's partner site, for the search term "silk ties",
where Google powers the search results:

Google
AdWords enables you to manage your own account,
and with cost-per-click (CPC) pricing, you pay only when users
click on your ad. You control your costs by setting a daily
budget for what you are willing to spend each day.
When advertising on Google AdWords, try to keep
your budget to only what you are willing to pay. After the initial
setup process (and $5 setup fee), you can start creating your
own campaigns. Your ads will appear almost immediately. Read
through the process and instructions carefully.
You will not have to follow Google's recommended
cost-per-click or recommended budget. Set your own daily budget
according to your finances, and keep cost to $0.05 per click.
There is no need to pay more than that, as Google operates not
on how much money you have to spend, but how relevant your ads
are to it's viewers.

On certain competitive keywords like "web
hosting", you may need to bid more than a few dollars for
each click. Avoid extremely competitive keywords if possible.
One mistake many people who are new to PPC commit, is that they
try to become no.1 on the paid listings, shelving out more money
than necessary, bidding on popular, one word keywords that everyone
else seem to use.
What they get is a lot of traffic and clicks on
their ads, and a lot of money wasted. Why I say "wasted"
is because most of these clicks are from untargeted, "junk"
visitors who have no interest in your ad whatsoever. After all,
it doesn't cost THEM anything to click on your ads.
Use the "Keyword Suggestion" tool to
help you find relevant keywords, and make your keywords as relevant
as possible to get only highly targeted visitors. Remember what
you want is people who are seriously looking for your product
or service. Make sure your keywords appear on the title and
description of the ad. You may need to create several "Ad
Groups" if you're bidding on many keywords.

Overture - King of the Jungle
The Overture PPC program is one of the oldest on the Internet.
Formerly known as GoTo.com, they pioneered the whole paid advertising
thing on the Internet, starting as early as 1997.
A $50 initial deposit is non-refundable and will be applied to
click-throughs or to the minimum monthly spend. Each account has
a $20 minimum monthly spend. There is a minimum bid requirement
of $0.10 per click- through. You can only set monthly budget limit,
and a monthly minimum top-up amount of $15 is required.
Top 3 Overture listings appear on these sites's search queries.
I recommend using Overture because of its massive reach. Currently,
big bad Yahoo has bought over Overture, and besides developing
their own search engine, most of the URL listings in Yahoo will
be done using Overture sponsored links technology.

Overture's role in this whole Internet promotion thing will be
undeniable. You have to either learn how to use Overture, or get
left behind! Paid advertising in Overture will likely cost you
more than the other 2 top guns, but if you want to reach a huge
market, and have the cash to advertise, Overture will probably
be the best choice.
Even AltaVista and AllTheWeb,
2 former search engine giants, no longer accept URL submission
to their site. Instead, they will be using Overture listings and
Yahoo search technology.
Overture
Delivers Results You Can't Ignore. Only Overture
search listings reach over 80% of active U.S. Internet users
with just one buy.
With Overture you set your own cost-per-lead and pay only
for targeted customers, leading to a high ROI.

Enhance Interactive - Rising Star
Started in 1999 with a familiy oriented search model, know as
Ah-ha, Enhance went through changes in its business model, and
finally arrived on the same golden path as Overture and AdWords.
Still growing in popularity, thie pay-per-click search engine
is set to take big slices of the seach marketing pie.
Minimum click price for Paid Listings in Enhance is $0.03, significantly
lower than Overture's $0.10 and AdWords' $0.05. One important
aspect of Enhance is that it allows logo placement next to paid
listings, know as LogoLinks. The links are likely to increase
overall click-through rates for your business listings.
Within two business days upon submission of yur selected keywords,
you will usually get an approved listing, and you may upgrade
your account at any time. Besides that, Enhance also has an easy
to use interface, professional help in review of your campaigns,
and lets you set daily budgets, just like AdWords.
SUpport is another strong point here, as they offer many methods
of assistance like 24 hours phone support, email support, online
chat and a support knowledge base.
Enhance's current partnership runs across many of the top search
engines:
- Yahoo!
- Excite
- MSN
- Dogpile
- MetaCrawler
- WebCrawler
- EarthLink
- Jupitermedia
- 24/7 Real Media
- InfoSpace
- Claria
